In August 2018 we were visited by Hilary whose grandmother Blanche Harwin was Ralph's sister. The photos below are of some of the items they brought with them that relate to Ralph.
Private 28185, 12th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 13 November 1916. Aged 24. Born North Runcton, Norfolk, enlisted aged 22 years 4 days at Norwich, resident Wood Lane Cottages, Tharston, Long Stratton, Norfolk. Born 30 June 1893 and baptised 6 August 1893 in North Runcton. Son of George and Emma Harwin, of 3, Scargells Road, High St., March, Cambs. Formerly 5342, 4th (Reserve) Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Unmarried. Assigned British Expeditionary Force (B.E.F.), embarked Folkestone and disembarked Boulogne 27 September 1916. Posted to 1st/1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment September 1916. Joined the 12th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment, for duty in the field 15 October 1916. Prior to enlistment he was a Yardman. Height 5 feet 4¼ inches, weight 8 stones 4 lbs, chest 34½ inches. In the 1901 census he was aged 7, born North Runcton, Norfolk, resident with his parents at Cottage, Hilton Lane, North Runcton, Norfolk. Admiited 17 September 1906 to Tharston School, Tharston, Norfolk. In the 1911 census he was aged 17, born North Runcton Norfolk, a Yard Boy and Bullock Tendler, resident with his parets at Wood Farm, Tharston, Long Stratton, Norfolk.
